Juddmonte’s two second season sires – RAIL LINK and THREE VALLEYS – both notched up new stakes performers over the weekend.

On Saturday (19th May), The Nile (THREE VALLEYS) was placed second in the Listed King Charles II Stakes at Newmarket after racing well throughout. The John Gosden-trained colt won by an impressive 11 lengths on his seasonal debut three weeks ago and is held in high regard by his trainer.

Interestingly, the subsequent world champion miler OBSERVATORY was also runner-up in this race in 2000 before going on to Gr.1 success.

On Sunday (20th May), the three-time winner Wild Wolf (RAIL LINK) only narrowly missed out on Classic victory in the Gr.2 Italian Derby when placing second by a short neck. Purchased for €30,000 at SGA Sales, Wild Wolf is trained by Stefano Botti on behalf of his owners Scuderia Effevi.

Also at Rome, the dual winner Saint Bernard (THREE VALLEYS) was runner-up in the Listed Premio Its Ex Tullio Righetti.
