The Fugue capped a fine day for DANSILI when taking the Gr.1 Irish Champion Stakes, the feature race at
Leopardstown yesterday (8th September).

His fine run had begun earlier in Australia when his seven-year-old son Foreteller landed the Gr.1 Maykbe Diva Stakes at Flemington.

The Fugue, fresh from her impressive victory in the Gr.1 Yorkshire Oaks just over a fortnight ago, swept past the multiple Gr.1 winner Al Kazeem to win by an eased-down length and a quarter, with the Gr.1 Irish Derby winner Trading Leather, two lengths adrift in third.

This was the four-year-old’s third win at the highest level and her first against colts. She is likey to head to France and North America in search of more Gr.1 success.

Owned and bred by the Lloyd-Webber’s Watership Down Stud, she is out of the Gr.2 Ribblesdale Stakes second Twyla Tharp (Sadler’s Wells), a half-sister to the Gr.1 winners Summoner (Inchinor) and Compton Admiral (Suave Dancer).
