Dominant became the second Gr.1 winner for CACIQUE on Sunday (8th December) with victory in the Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin.

Five-year-old Dominant was formerly trained by Roger Varian in Newmarket, and won the Tattersalls Million 3YO Cup and was third in the York Stakes Gr.2 before his transfer to Hong Kong, where he is now based with trainer John Moore.

Second to Dominant in the Hong Kong Vase was the luckless The Fugue (DANSILI), who did not enjoy a clear run but stayed on strongly in the final stages.

Dominant is the second Gr.1 winner to come out of CACIQUE's first crop of just 29 foals, after Prix Jean Prat winner Mutual Trust. The Juddmonte stallion is now officially back on the roster for 2014 after careful management protocol has resulted in a significant improvement to his fertility. For the last two seasons, CACIQUE has returned a figure of 80% whilst covering a restricted book of between 45 and 50 mares.
