Xcellence became the eight first-crop winner for CHAMPS ELYSEES on Saturday (12th October) when winning the €29,000 Prix Ravinella at Maisons-Laffitte.

Bred by Haras d'Ecouves and Henri de Pracomtal and trained by François Doumen, the filly was making her third start, after previously running second on debut to subsequent Group performer Straight Thinking and then finishing fourth behind subsequent Oh So Sharp Stakes Gr.3 winner Miss France and Prix Marcel Boussac Gr.1 winner Indonesienne.

Like her sire's other two-year-old winners this season, Xcellence - described as a "delightful" filly by her trainer - can only be expected to improve next year. François Doumen told the Jour De Galop: "This is a filly who can step up in class and should be able to gain some blacktype next year. She will improve from two years to three years."

Also at Maisons-Laffitte, Champ D'Honneur - also by CHAMPS ELYSEES - narrowly lost out on second place when third in the €24,000 Prix Soya.

CHAMPS ELYSEES has five yearlings catalogued for Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales this week. Both CHAMPS ELYSEES yearlings on offer sold for over 100,000 guineas last week at Book 1 of the sale.

Meanwhile Dahama, the dam of Saturday's Rockfel Stakes Gr.2 winner Al Thakhira, had a CHAMPS ELYSEES colt foal this season.
