DANSILI's daughter Dank was awarded Champion Turf Female at the Eclipse Awards on Saturday (18th January). All three horses in the shortlist for the title were by Juddmonte stallions - the other two being Mizdirection (MIZZEN MAST) and the sadly ill-fated Laughing (DANSILI).

Taken from European Bloodstock News, 20th January 2014:

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Dank, excellently handled by him for owner James Wigan, scooped the award for Champion Turf Female at the 43rd annual Eclipse Awards, which were held at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida, on Saturday evening.

The daughter of DANSILI, now just turned five, travelled to Arlington Park in August and ran away with the Gr.1 Beverly D Stakes, landing the $436,500 first prize by four and a quarter lengths, and returned Stateside two and a half months later to contest the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, which she won by a cosy half length and took her earnings to more than £1m. They were among the filly’s four wins from five outings in 2013 and she is likely to reappear soon in Dubai.

She earned 229 of the votes in her category, with eight each for Mizdirection (MIZZEN MAST) and Laughing, also a daughter of DANSILI, who died on 6th January.

Dank was bred under Wigan’s London Thoroughbred Services banner and is the third top-flight winner for her dam, the winning Darshaan mare Masskana, following the Selkirk filly Sulk and Rock Of Gibraltar’s son Eagle Mountain.
