Starflower became the second three-year-old winner for CHAMPS ELYSEES on Thursday (20th March) with a debut win in a competitive €25,000 8-furlong maiden at Saint-Cloud.

Starflower, bred by Juddmonte Farms and is trained by David Smaga, is a half-sister to Gr.1 winner Mutual Trust (CACIQUE). Her win in the fillies' maiden was over a second faster than the corresponding colts’ race on the card.

Smaga commented: "She has lots of talent and is not anywhere near her best yet. She should enjoy herself over 10 furlongs."

Starflower’s dam Posteritas has a two-year-old colt by RAIL LINK, a yearling filly by CACIQUE and is due to CACIQUE again this season. She is set to return to CHAMPS ELYSEES again in 2014.

Mujadil Field (a two-year-old winner last season) provided CHAMPS ELYSEES with his first three-year-old winner in Italy last week.
