THIRD GR.1 VICTORY FOR KINGMAN
KINGMAN's devastating turn of foot was once more on display in the Sussex Stakes Gr.1 at Glorious Goodwood, as the Juddmonte homebred landed his third Gr.1 victory of 2014 - proving himself the best miler in Britain in no uncertain terms.
Clocking a top speed of almost 44mph, KINGMAN recorded a blistering time of 10.22 in the penultimate furlong, prompting trainer John Gosden to remark: "His class shone through. He's like his uncle OASIS DREAM. He has the speed to win a July Cup.
"He's improved, he's got wiser and cleverer, bigger and stronger. He's got a great constitution and a good mind on him."
KINGMAN's victory was the sixth in the race for his owner Prince Khalid, after Rousillion, WARNING, DISTANT VIEW and FRANKEL. FRANKEL remains the only horse ever to win the race more than once.
Pictured right is KINGMAN's dam Zenda - a French Classic winner and half-sister to leading British-based sire OASIS DREAM - with her 2014 foal, a filly from the first crop of BATED BREATH. Zenda is currently in foal to FRANKEL.
