RECORDS BROKEN AT ARQANA OCTOBER SALE

Day One of the Arqana October Yearling Sale saw the existing record price broken three times, 42 six-figure yearlings and increases in the average and median compared to 2016.

One of the top five six figure yearlings was a FRANKEL colt out of Gr.1 winner Pearly Shells and consigned by Haras de Saint Pair. Bought by Lyon-based trainer Marc Pimbonnet for owner Fabrice Petit the colt changed hands for €250,000. Pimbonnet said: “This is the third year we have bought at this sale and Fabrice Petit really wanted a yearling by Frankel. He is a magnificent horse out of a great family."

OASIS DREAM yearlings had a healthy average for the first day of the sale of €115,000 (4 sold). His highest price lot, a filly consigned by one of the day's leading vendors Coulonces Sales, out of Group-producer Angelita, made €190,000 when selling to Robert Nataf of Horse France. Coulonces Sales also consigned an OASIS DREAM colt (lot 194) from the family of Johannesburg who sold for €135,000.

BATED BREATH's sole lot to pass through the ring yesterday, a filly out of Abandagold, made €53,000 for consignors Haras de Castillon. He has one more lot, a colt who has already been named Vysotsky to sell tomorrow (19th October).
