Putting behind her a first disappointing effort when last of 14 in the Gr.1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, the Wertheimers' Polydream dished out a ready beating to the Godolphin pair Inns of Court and Jimmy Two Times in Saturday's Gr.3 Prix du Palais-Royal at ParisLongchamp. She raced on the rail in mid-pack early and, when committed by Maxime Guyon passing the two-furlong pole, quickly had the measure of Inns of Court to her inside. At the line, the bay had on and a quarter lengths to spare over the runner-up.Introduced over six furlongs at Deauville in July, Polydream made light work of that affair before beating Laurens in the Gr.3 Prix du Calvados over this seven-furlong trip back there in August. Beaten only by Wild Illusion in the Prix Marcel Boussac at Chantilly on Arc day, she found the Pouliches coming too soon and despite beating no rivals was only beaten around six lengths. "Last year, she was my best two-year-old and I felt she could have won the Marcel Boussac, but she had a problem when she came back and was sore, so we had her knee operated on which delayed her preparation for the Pouliches," trainer Freddy Head explained. "She was not quite ready for it and needed it, but she's a lovely filly with a big heart. Her best trip is probably this, but we want to target the [Gr.1] Prix Maurice de Gheest over six-and-a-half. Whether she runs in between, we have yet to decide."
