BUGLE MAJOR LEADS THE FIELD
by Ercel Ellis
April 24th in France Bugle Major, a three-year-old colt by
MIZZEN MAST, was a comfortable winner in his debut. Bred by Juddmonte Farms and
carrying the silks of Khalid Abdullah, Bugle Major laid off the early pace then
took over impressively to win the Prix Juigne by a length and a half.
Bugle Major is a half-brother to
Teletext (by Anabaa), a colt by Empire Maker that placed in four Group Stakes (including the Gr.1 Grand Prix de Paris). Conference Call herself won twice as a
juvenile and placed in the Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac and Gr.3 Prix de la
Grotte. Bugle Major is her fifth foal and fifth winner.
Conference Call also has a
two-year-old colt by Tapit that has yet to race, a yearling, also by Tapit, and a colt by her side by Into
Mischief. This is the female family of the great sire Danehill.
