September 7th at Kempton, Artois, a two-year-old colt by MIZZEN MAST, broke his maiden with authority, taking the lead 75 yards from the wire to win by a length and a half.

Artois is out of the great race mare Intercontinental, a daughter of Danehill and the great producer Hasili, by Kahyasi. Intercontinental was a champion mare in North America in 2005 after winning the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, and four other graded stakes that year. As a four-year-old she won the Gr.1 Matriarch in addition to the Just A Game Gr.2 and Jenny Wiley Gr.3. She was Classic/Gr.1 placed at three as well as Gr.1 placed at 2.

At career's end, Intercontinental had won 13 times and had earned $2,052,463. She’s a full sister to champion Champs Élysées, champion Banks Hill, champion Dansili, and Gr.1 winner Cacique. Intercontinental is the dam of six winners.
