FRANKEL filly Soul Stirring has been named best three-year-old filly by the Japan Racing Association and may potentially come to Ascot to race this summer.

Soul Stirring, FRANKEL's first Classic winner when landing the Japanese Oaks last year, could join the party at Royal Ascot in June.

Owner Teruya Yoshida, in accepting the champion three-year-old filly honour at the Japanese Racing Association annual awards, heightened hopes of her coming to Europe this summer as he talked of Royal Ascot and the Breeders' Cup after starting her year in the Victoria Mile.

Nick Smith, Ascot's director if international racing said: "Soul Stirring has been on the radar for some time as the Japanese are way ahead of the rest of the racing world in planning races each year.

"Her owner has always had her in mind as a possible with the appeal of racing a daughter of FRANKEL at Ascot.

"We've never had a Japanese winner at Ascot and would love to have one, especially one owned by Terry Yoshida as he's had runners here and went close with Heart's Cry, who was third in the 2006 King George."

Soul Stirring lost her unbeaten record when third in Japan's 1000 Guineas but restored her reputation by winning the country's Grade 1 Yushun Himba.

She was beaten in her three races against her elders but was a creditable sixth in the Japan Cup last time, and her trainer Kazuo Fujisawa also has Ascot experience, having saddled Spielberg to finish sixth to Free Eagle in the 2015 Prince of Wales's Stakes.

Smith who travels to Japan in the middle of next month with a British racing delegation, added: "We're hoping to get more entries from Japan and there's been talk of the three-year-old Tower Of London [owned by Sheikh Mohammed] coming over this year, possible for the 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace."
