Owned and bred by the Queen, Sovereign Grant was well away to race second in the wake of the leader through halfway. Looming large in the straight, the crowd's 15-8 choice quickened smartly to seize control approaching the final eighth and surged clear to score by an impressive 3 and a half lengths from Current Option, becoming the 17th winner for his freshman sire. He becomes the third winner from as many foals out of Listed Swettenham Stud Fillies' Trial victress Momentary, herself the leading performer produced by a winning half-sister to dual Gr.3 Winter Hill Stakes victress Fabricate.
