Ertijaal (OASIS DREAM), second and third in the last two runnings of the Gr.1 Al Quoz Sprint, looks destined for a third straight appearance in that 1200m event after resuming victoriously from a 10-month absence yesterday (11th January).

Displaying his typical quick first step, the homebred showed quickly in front, but wasn't allowed an easy time of it, as Hit the Bid kept pace to the favourite's outer. Ertijaal jumped off onto his left lead at the 400m, switched back over with about a furlong to travel and was always holding Hit the Bid to the line despite giving the runner-up 12 pounds.

The winning margin was a half-length with a further 3 1/2 lengths back to Dutch Masterpiece in third. "My horse was giving away a lot of weight on his first run of the season and the runner-up is a very useful sprinter," winning jockey Jim Crowley said. "The front two have pulled well clear, so we have to be very pleased with that. He was a bit fresh, as you would expect, but now at seven he is hopefully at his prime as a sprinter and we will work towards (Dubai) World Cup night and the Al Quoz Sprint."

Ertijaal is easily the best produce for his dam, whose last listed produce is the current three-year-old Talaaqy (DANSILI).
