14TH FIRST CROP WINNER FOR KINGMAN
KINGMAN colt Raakib Alhawa won on debut at Newbury in the Haynes, Hanson & Clark Conditions Stakes today (21st September), to become his 14th first crop winner.
Trainer David Simcock said: "Raakib Alhawa has done what we asked and hasn't had an overly hard time. He's showed up well and he'd been straightforward at home. I haven't a clue what he'll do. His mare stayed a mile and half so I don't know about trip."
The Haynes, Hanson & Clark has been a predictor for the leading lights of next year. Shergar (1980), Rainbow Quest (1983), Unfuwain (1987), King's Theatre (1993) and Nayef (2000) all feature on the race's roll of honour, with Shahrastani (1985) and Authorized (2006) contesting this mile conditions race en route to Derby glory.
