NEW STAKES WINNER FOR BATED BREATH

Taken from European Bloodstock News, 9th June 2019:

Maid In India made every post a winning one to land the Achilles Stakes L. over 5f at Haydock yesterday.

The daughter of BATED BREATH, trained by Eric Alston, was winning for the sixth time in 13 starts but yesterday marked her first success in Pattern company, the filly having finished fourth and fifth on her two previous starts in Listed races. She holds an entry for the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot, but her trainer indicated that she might contest another Listed contest instead of shouldering a penalty at Royal Ascot.

Making her seasonal debut under Tom Eaves, she made light of the heavy ground to take an easy lead and maintained her advantage to the line, scoring by a length and three quarters from Lady In France (Showcasing), with a further length and a half back to the third-placed Tarboosh (Bahamian Bounty).

Homebred by Con Harrington, the winner is a half-sister to the French Listed winner Love Spirit (Elusive Quality), out of the Prix de Meautry Gr.3 winner Indian Maiden (Indian Ridge), also a Listed winner on seven occasions. This is also the family of the Kentucky Derby Gr.1 heroine Winning Colors (Caro).
