A colt by BATED BREATH was joint top lot on day two of the Tattersalls July Sales yesterday (11th July).

Taken from European Bloodstock News, 12th July 2019:

Qatar trainer Jassim Ghazali, the leading buyer on day one of this week’s sale, left with the joint-top lot on day two after spending 100,000gns on handicapper Mr Diamond (Lot 507).

Consigned from Richard Fahey’s Musley Bank Stables, the son of BATED BREATH scored twice as a two-year-old and opened the current season with a win at Wetherby. After a third-place finish on Newmarket’s July course last month he gained a rating of 81 and the winner Awe franked the form when fourth of 28 in the Brittania Handicap at Royal Ascot.

Will Douglass of Charlie Gordon Watson Bloodstock acts for Ghazali at UK Sales. He said: “He was third to a good horse last time out, and the winner has since run well at Royal Ascot and been sold [privately] to Hong Kong.

“We like buying from Mr Fahey – he’s a good man and honest to deal with. This horse should suit the job in Qatar.”
