Finche (FRANKEL) was propelled to the head of the Melbourne Cup Gr.1 market after a taking victory in the Kingston Town Stakes Gr.3 at Randwick yesterday. Fourth in last year’s Cup, the Chris Waller-trained gelding finished with a rattle to beat Stampede by a long neck, with Carzoff a further length away in third. "He's a pretty good horse," Waller said of Finche, who was recording his first win in Australia. "It's great to be training for Prince Khalid along with the team that have bought into him in Australia and it's great to see the colours of Frankel and Enable win at Royal Randwick. The Melbourne Cup is a little closer after today. We'll have to go home and map out a suitable plan. He's a very talented horse and we look forward to getting him there."
