Maid in India (BATED BREATH) was off the board in both starts at stakes level last year and earned a first blacktype win in Haydock's Achilles Stakes L. in June.

The 12-1 chance chased the leaders from a midfield position through the early stages of Saturday's World Trophy Gr.3 at Newbury and eased ever closer once past halfway. Coming under pressure to launch her challenge approaching the final furlong, she was driven out in the closing stages to outgame 15-8 favourite Dakota Gold by a half-length for a career high.

Trainer Eric Alston commented: "To be honest, I was praying for rain and would have been happy if she'd finished in the first three, but I knew the stiff five here would suit her and the ground at Newbury is not as firm as it is at some places. She is my first Group winner since 2016."
