New Group winner for Kingman

Aga Khan homebred Sinawann (Kingman) made his class tell with a win in the Gr.3 Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown yesterday (1st July) becoming his sire's sixth Group winner from his second crop.

Taken from the Thoroughbred Daily News, 2nd July 2020:

The homebred colt tracked the leader New World Tapestry before swooping two out. Soon clear, the 6-5 favourite may have been idling as he hit the line with a length to spare over Confidence High, who had three-quarters of a length to spare over New World Tapestry there.

"I think he did that well and stuck it out to the line well, but he's lazy out in front," trainer Mick Halford said. "He didn't have the greatest preparation for the Guineas and got a bit tired there, so we were happy he'd come forward from that. I still think there is more to come and mentally he's still a bit immature - Ronan [Whelan] said he took a while to get organised. We'll stick at a mile for now, but I think he'll stay further."
