Book 1 returns impressive statistics

A Kingman filly (pictured) consigned by Lynn Lodge Stud sold to Godolphin for 1.45 million guineas on the final day of the Tattersalls October Book 1 Sale.

The filly, out of stakes winning mare Sante, was the third highest priced lot of the day and Kingman's second seven figure yearling of the sale. Kingman finished the sale with an average of 547,462gns (13 sold). Lynn Lodge Stud's Eddie O'Leary commented: "It was the physical and that great pedigree," when asked what had appealed about Sante.

"Those two things and the Kingman cover was what we wanted. This filly has been a star since the day she was born. She was always a queen and made a queen's price. I hope she's very lucky for Sheikh Mohammed."

Frankel was also responsible for two seven-figure yearlings at the sale with a filly and colt reaching 2 million guineas and 1.1 million guineas respectively, with both purchased by Godolphin. His average for Tattersalls October Book 1 is 409,444gns for 18 sold.

Oasis Dream also had a strong sale, posting an average of 103,500gns for six sold - more than three times the fee they were conceived at.

Bated Breath had two yearlings pass through the ring during Book 1 selling for 170,000gns and 35,000gns respectively.
