New 2YO stakes winner for Bated Breath

Aga Khan homebred colt Makaloun made all to win the Listed Criterium du Fonds Europeen de l'Elevage at Deauville on Saturday (22nd August), becoming Bated Breath's 14th stakes horse this season.

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 23rd August 2020:

Makaloun maintained his unbeaten record to land the 1600m Listed race on the undercard at Deauville yesterday.

The juvenile son of Bated Breath broke sharply from his wide draw and raced alone along the hedges before being joined by two rivals and picking up the overall lead when the field joined in the turn for home. Travelling sweetly, he was always doing enough to win a shade comfortably from length from Euphoria, while Shut The Box, who had been under pressure early, ran on well to claim third by a head.

Owned and bred by His Highness The Aga Khan, he is the third runner and winner out of the dual three-year-old victress Makana. She is a half-sister to the Listed scorer and Gr.3-placed Markazi.
